Introduction of a mealtime volunteers scheme at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital designed to decrease the incidence of malnutrition among hospital patients. Strategies for reducing malnutrition, tasks and responsibilities of the volunteers and the development and implementation of the scheme are described. Feedback from nursing staff, volunteers and patients is summarised. 10 refs.
