Literature review concerning knowledge, attitudes and practice of nurses regarding patient nutrition. Guidelines to improve nutrition are outlined and types of screening tools are described. Inadequacy of nurses' nutritional knowledge, low priority attached to screening, challenges in management of nutrition and methods to encourage and monitor eating are considered. 31 refs.
