Better Communication – shaping speech, language and communication services in the light of outcomes from the Bercow Review

In 2008 John Bercow MP published his government-commissioned review of services for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The review found provision to be characterised by variability and lack of equity. Effective, joint commissioning across health and education was rare. As part of this programme, the government’s Communication Champion for children, in partnership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, is proud to host three conferences aiming to draw together learning from this period of action. They will provide commissioners and service managers with the information they need to ensure high quality, cost effective services for the future.
