Assessing and Treating Fatigue Masterclass
9th September 2011, at the College of Occupational Therapists, London.
A Masterclass aimed at OTs from any clinical setting who find that fatigue is a significant problem for their clients and who want to increase their knowledge, enhance their skills and develop this area of practice. Delegates will gain an increased understanding of fatigue and how to assess its impact upon daily life, learn fatigue management strategies and increase confidence in the management of fatigue.

Allied Health Professions Service Improvement Project .
The Department of Health has published 'Allied Health Professions Service Improvement Project'. The AHP Service Improvement Project, completed in March 2011, demonstrated how AHPs can improve clinical outcomes and patient experience through innovation in service delivery that both improve quality and increase productivity. The report summary and compendium provide details of improvements for children and adults in the 27 participating services including engagement with patients and carers in redesign of services.

Confusion over new salt research
“Salt is GOOD for you,” according to claims in the Daily Mail. The newspaper challenged conventional health advice by suggesting that “eating more could even lower the chances of heart disease”. However, these claims are somewhat unjustified as they are based on a study that actually looked at a one-off measure of salt in people’s urine rather than in their diet. The research looked at 3,700 people’s urinary salt levels and then followed them for nearly eight years to look at their risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and related deaths.
