Parkinson’s Study Day
3rd November 2010 in Derby.This study day is aimed at all grades of AHP’s who have contact with Patients with Parkinson’s Disease in a non specialist setting. The day looks at a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of patients. Each session will be led by a clinical specialist in the field of Parkinson’s Disease.

Revised Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct published Occupational therapists, those who are using OT services and employers of occupational therapy personnel will be interested in the newly revised Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct published by the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT).

Audit shows how to improve hip-fracture care
Standards of NHS care for hip fractures are improving, according to the National Hip Fracture Database’s 2010 audit. But services vary significantly among hospitals, it says.
'These results have been achieved through reducing the time from emergency admission to surgery and early mobilisation and rehabilitation by physiotherapists,' says Natalie Beswetherick, the CSP's director of practice and development.

Independent prescribing - physiotherapists and podiatrists The Department of Health has launched two engagement exercises to seek views on the development of independent prescribing for physiotherapists and for podiatrists. Depending on the outcome, and subject to agreement by Ministers, these views may then inform and assist the development of a formal public consultation led by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) proposing specific amendments to the relevant legislation. Responses can be made online, by email or in writing and are welcomed from individuals, groups and organisations.
