Masterclass Assessing and Treating Fatigue: skills and strategies for occupational therapy practice A masterclass aimed at occupational therapists from any clinical setting, who find that fatigue is a significant problem for their clients and who want to increase their knowledge, enhance their skills and develop this area of practice. Delegates will gain an increased understanding of fatigue and how to assess its impact upon daily life, learn fatigue management strategies and develop increased confidence in the management of fatigue.

RCSLT Study Day and AGM 2010: Effectiveness and efficiency - innovation in speech and language therapy - 7th October 2010 in Edinburgh.
At the 2010 AGM and study day, the RCSLT will feature case studies from services that have successfully improved outcomes for service users in addition to demonstrating cost efficiencies. The study day is aimed at practitioners and budget holders.
Deadline for submissions of Effectiveness and Efficiency Case Studies is Friday 12th March.

Stretch is commonly prescribed as part of physical rehabilitation in pain management programs, yet little is known about its effectiveness. A randomized controlled trial was conducted to investigate the effects of a 3-week stretch program on muscle extensibility and stretch tolerance in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Figures obtained via the Freedom of Information Act by the Conservative Party estimate that over 500,000 patients a year are discharged from hospital, only to be readmitted within 28 days.

The British Dietetic Association (BDA) welcomes phase 2 of the Food Standards Agency saturated fat campaign and calls on the public to seek out local activities run by dietitians across the country offering practical and simple steps to reduce the amount of saturated fat in their diets and get the balance right.
